License Renewal Timeline for ALFs
The LSLE License Renewal Timeline for Assisted Living Facilities highlights and applies the timeframes given in Florida Statutes to license renewal. Assisted Living Facilities are licensed for a two-year period and the renewal regulations include specific milestones that, if overlooked, will quickly complicate the renewal process, and cost the ALF some cash in fines.
Renewal timeframes are important to the Agency for Health Care Administration. They’re emphasized in the General License Activity Module of the Core Training Curriculum and on Florida’s ALF Administrator Competency Test.
The renewal timeframes are found in Chapter 408, Florida Statutes. They apply generally to the health care providers that the Agency regulates. If an ALF is on a biennial survey schedule, the standard renewal survey, while unannounced, usually takes place after a complete application has been submitted to the Agency and before the license is renewed.
The timeline is an example of the unique study aids that give Laurel Senior Living Education’s Core Training students an advantage when preparing for the Competency Test and, later, as a job aid when developing their own, real-world procedures.
The timeline is interactive, with links to the Agency’s licensure application, checklist, and regulations. Visual learners can crosswalk the regulatory references with the timeline and better remember them when sitting for the Competency Test.
Use the License Renewal Timeline to:
- Develop or audit the ALF’s Renewal Calendar
- Engage staff whose job intersects with the renewal process
- Check the regulations through the interactive links
- Prepare for Florida’s Competency Test
